Weather permitting, I sell my jewelry outside in Astoria, Queens on Saturdays, from noon to 6:00 pm. I'm at Studio B, located on 34th Ave., between 35th & 36th St., across from Kaufman Astoria Studio.

Welcome to Hand Crafted by Joanne Nichols. I hope you have as much fun looking through the jewelry I design, as I have making it.

I started the company after attempting to place a catalog order. I spotted a beautiful, simple necklace on black leather cord. I wanted brown but my special order couldn't be accommodated. I decided that if I could find the beads, I could make the necklace. I didn't find the exact beads but the ones I found were close enough. I love that necklace and wear it often.

And I found I really enjoyed the whole process, from buying the beads to designing the pieces to the actual creation. So much so, I decided to make a go of the company.

I use a variety of materials including: sterling silver from Bali and Thailand; leather; turquoise; copper; quartz; jade; chrysophrase; garnet; jasper; carnelian and pearls. Basically, anything that strikes my fancy.

My jewelry is not mass produced and mostly one-of-a-kind. My hope is that you'll find something you love and can't live without. If not, please check back to see my new designs.
